The Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB), in collaboration with the Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM), is set to organize a two-day national seminar focused on the role of women in shaping the Indian Constitution. The seminar will be held on March 19–20, 2026, at the Shankarlal Hall of the University of Delhi.

The seminar, sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), is titled “Daughters of the Indian Constitution: 75 Years of Empowerment Towards Viksit Bharat @ 2047.” The event aims to highlight the contributions of women who played a significant yet often overlooked role in the making of the Indian Constitution.

Focus on Women’s Role in Nation Building

The primary objective of the seminar is to recognize and honor the contributions of forgotten women leaders who helped shape modern India. It also seeks to introduce the younger generation to their visionary ideas and contributions. Organizers believe that understanding these contributions is essential for building a stronger and more inclusive future.

The seminar will also emphasize the importance of women’s participation in the “Viksit Bharat @ 2047” mission. It will underline how women continue to play an active and positive role in India’s growth and development. The discussions will focus on empowerment, leadership, and the evolving role of women in society.

Presence of Distinguished Guests

The event will witness the presence of several prominent dignitaries from the fields of education, governance, and public service. Union Minister Savitri Thakur from the Ministry of Women and Child Development will attend as the Chief Guest.

Other key attendees include Prof. Narayanlal Gupta, President of ABRSM; Prof. Dhananjay Singh, Member Secretary of ICSSR; and Dr. Vikas Gupta, Registrar of Delhi University. The seminar will be chaired by Prof. Balram Pani, Dean of Colleges, University of Delhi.

Additionally, Prof. Geeta Bhatt, National Secretary of ABRSM and Director of NCWEB, will play a key role in the event. Several other distinguished personalities are also expected to attend. These include Rajya Sabha Member C. Sadanand Master, Prof. Shashikala Wanjari from NIEPA, Prof. Rajni Abbi from Delhi University’s South Campus, Member of Parliament Maithili Thakur, and IAS officer Ayushi Dabas.

Strong Academic Participation

The seminar has received an overwhelming response from the academic community. More than 600 participants, including teachers, researchers, and students from across the country, have registered for the event. This large number reflects the growing interest in women’s studies and constitutional history.

NCWEB centers will also see active participation from teachers and students. Their involvement will make the seminar more interactive and meaningful. Experts from different fields will share their insights, making the discussions rich and diverse.

Organizing Team and Structure

The seminar is being organized under the guidance of experienced academicians. Dr. Prempal Singh, In-charge of the PG Centre at NCWEB, is serving as the Convener of the event. The Co-Conveners include Dr. Surendra Kumar, Deputy Director of NCWEB; Dr. Sonali Chitlakar from Miranda House NCWEB; and Rahul Mishra, Assistant Professor at Shivaji College.

The sessions will include keynote speeches, panel discussions, and paper presentations. These sessions aim to provide a platform for meaningful dialogue on women’s empowerment and their contributions to India’s constitutional framework.

Promoting Awareness and Inspiration

This national seminar is expected to create awareness about the historical and ongoing contributions of women in India. It will also inspire students and young researchers to explore new ideas and perspectives. The event highlights the importance of inclusive growth and gender equality in nation-building.

By revisiting the past and connecting it with present challenges, the seminar will encourage participants to think about the future of India. It aims to build a strong foundation for achieving the vision of a developed nation by 2047.
