In a major step towards achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, the nationwide Nari Setu Bharat Initiative was officially launched in New Delhi in the presence of Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Sardar Tarnjit Singh Sandhu. The initiative aims to promote women empowerment, community participation, digital literacy, and awareness about welfare schemes for women and the girl child. The launch programme witnessed the participation of educators, students, social workers, and community leaders from different institutions. Speakers at the event emphasized that women-led development will play a key role in building a strong, self-reliant, and inclusive India. The initiative seeks to connect educational institutions with local communities. It also aims to encourage youth participation in social awareness campaigns and grassroots development programmes. Nari Setu Bharat Initiative Aims to Build Social Awareness The organisers explained that the initiative has been designed to strengthen awareness about education, health, financial literacy, and self-employment opportunities among women. Hansraj College Faculty Members Lead the Initiative The initiative is being coordinated by Dr. Jnaneswari Malik and Dr. Prabhanshu Ojha from Hansraj College, University of Delhi. Both faculty members highlighted the importance of educational institutions in shaping socially responsible citizens. Educational Institutions Must Support Community Development During the programme, the conveners stated that colleges and universities should not remain limited to classroom education. Instead, they should actively participate in community development and social transformation. They explained that students can become agents of positive change when they engage directly with local communities. Rural Outreach Drives Created Awareness About Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana One of the major highlights of the programme was the success of the rural outreach campaigns conducted under the initiative during the past year. 110 Sukanya Samriddhi Accounts Opened According to the organisers, five rural outreach drives were organised in nearby NCR Delhi regions. Through these drives, a total of 110 Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana accounts were opened for girl children from rural communities. The campaigns focused on increasing awareness about financial security and educational support for girls. Volunteers interacted directly with families and explained the benefits of government-backed savings schemes for the future of the girl child. The organisers stated that many rural families remain unaware of financial schemes designed for women and children. Through direct engagement and awareness campaigns, the initiative aims to bridge this information gap. They added that financial literacy can help families make better decisions about education, healthcare, and long-term security for their children. Women Empowerment Remains Central to India’s Development Vision Speakers at the programme highlighted that women empowerment is one of the most important pillars of India’s growth journey. They said that improving access to education, healthcare, digital skills, and employment opportunities can significantly strengthen the nation’s economy and social structure. Initiative Reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Vision The programme also reflected the broader vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Viksit Bharat @2047 mission. The mission focuses on inclusive growth, women-led development, youth participation, self-reliance, and digital empowerment. Participants said that India can achieve the dream of becoming a developed nation only when women are equally empowered in every sector of society. The speakers further emphasized that grassroots transformation is necessary for national progress. They stated that educational institutions and young people can contribute greatly to this transformation through social outreach and awareness programmes. National Expansion Plan Announced for the Initiative The organisers announced that the Nari Setu Bharat Initiative will soon expand across the country through partnerships with educational institutions. Collaboration Planned With Central Universities and Colleges Under the proposed expansion plan, the initiative will collaborate with 25 Central Universities across India. Nearly 35 colleges and higher secondary schools under each participating institution are also expected to join the movement. The initiative aims to transform campuses into centres of social responsibility and nation-building. Participating institutions will organise digital literacy drives, health awareness programmes, educational campaigns, and women empowerment activities in nearby communities. The organisers believe that this nationwide network can create a strong bridge between educational institutions and society. Youth Participation Will Drive Social Transformation Experts present at the programme observed that India’s youth population can become a powerful force for social change. They stressed that young people must actively participate in nation-building initiatives to create a developed and self-reliant India.
