The annual Vasantotsav celebration at University of Delhi witnessed a remarkable milestone this year as the special women-centric event titled “SHE & SHAKTI” concluded with overwhelming participation and appreciation.

Organised by the Vasantotsav Committee in collaboration with the Delhi University Students’ Union and the Delhi Culture Ministry, the event was held on February 16 at the university’s Multi-Purpose Hall. This was the seventh event in the Vasantotsav series and was exclusively dedicated to female students.

Nearly 10,000 Students Participate

The event received registrations from over 15,000 students representing 205 units from various universities and colleges across Delhi through the Aviral Portal. Out of them, approximately 10,000 students and faculty members actively participated in the program.

The scale of participation reflects the growing enthusiasm among young women for platforms that celebrate cultural identity, spirituality, and empowerment.

A Unique Blend of Spirituality and Modern Expression

The highlight of the event was the vibrant fusion of bhajan clubbing and cultural performances. The program successfully showcased a harmonious blend of spirituality and contemporary presentation styles.

Throughout the event, students displayed confidence, unity, and collective energy. The atmosphere inside the auditorium remained filled with devotion, creativity, and celebration.

Participants described the event as inspiring and innovative. Many expressed their desire to see more culturally rooted and dignified celebrations in college campuses instead of western-style fests, emphasizing the importance of promoting Indian values in academic institutions.

Dignitaries Grace the Occasion

The event was attended by several prominent officials from University of Delhi, including:

  • Prof. Balram Pani, Dean of Colleges

  • Prof. Vikas Gupta, Registrar

  • Director, South Campus

  • Director, CPDHE

  • Director, SOL

  • President of DUTA

  • Principals from various colleges

The chief guest of the program was Shri Anil Gupta, Prant Karyavah of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (Delhi).

More than 150 faculty members and DUSU office bearers were also present.

All dignitaries praised the vision, execution, and impact of the event.

Organising Team and Leadership

The program was coordinated by Dr. Neha, Assistant Professor at Satyawati College. She was supported by Assistant Professors Dr. Meenu, Ms. Aparajita, and Ms. Parul.

Dr. Neha stated that “SHE & SHAKTI is not just a cultural program, but a celebration of women’s consciousness, inner strength, and collective creativity.”

She added that the extraordinary participation proves that today’s youth are eager to channel their energy in a positive and constructive direction.

Keshavam Band Enthralls the Audience

A major attraction of the event was the live performance by Keshavam Band.

Thousands of students were seen swaying to devotional melodies presented in a contemporary musical style. The performance beautifully demonstrated that spirituality and modern music can complement each other rather than stand in opposition.

The band’s presentation elevated the cultural atmosphere and strongly reinforced the event’s core message — empowerment, unity, and positive energy among young women.

Purpose and Impact

The primary objective of “SHE & SHAKTI” was to provide a positive, empowering, and culturally grounded platform for young women.

By all measures — participation, engagement, and feedback — the event achieved its goal successfully.

Vasantotsav 2026 has now set a benchmark for future university celebrations focused on cultural identity, women empowerment, and spiritual engagement.
