Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said that India must maintain a balance between heritage and development in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI). He stressed that technological growth should be guided by human values and cultural traditions.

The Minister was addressing the valedictory session of the two-day international conference titled “Digital Society and Human Values: Reimagining Integral Humanism in the AI Era” held at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi.

More than 800 researchers and educationists attended the conference. The event highlighted India’s growing role as a global leader in setting ethical standards for Artificial Intelligence.

Human-Centric Digital Revolution

Speaking as the chief guest, Meghwal said that the legal and ethical framework of Artificial Intelligence must focus on human welfare.

He noted that a recent global AI summit, where 86 countries signed a pact on inclusive technology, showed that India is emerging as a leader in the AI sector.

The Minister said India’s Viksit Bharat vision is not limited to economic growth. It also includes a digital revolution that benefits every citizen.

He emphasized that heritage and development must move together for India’s long-term progress.

Technology Must Follow Indian Philosophy

Several leading academicians shared their views on the future of Artificial Intelligence.

Prof. R.K. Mittal, Vice Chancellor of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow, compared technology to a flowing river. He said that technological progress cannot be stopped, but it must be guided in the right direction.

Prof. Shantishree Dhulipudi Pandit, Vice Chancellor of JNU, spoke about the changing role of teachers in the AI era. She said teachers are now facilitators who guide students on ethical use of knowledge.

In his presidential address, Prof. Narayan Lal Gupta said that AI is not a problem. He said society needs the right vision to use AI properly. He emphasized the importance of Integral Humanism in guiding technology for social welfare.

Conference Highlights

The conference was organised by Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM) in collaboration with Shaikshik Foundation and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, University of Delhi.

The valedictory session began with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony and Saraswati Vandana.

Prof. Hem Chandra Jain, Principal of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, presented the conference report. The session was conducted by Prof. Shailesh Mishra.

More than 250 research papers were presented during the two-day conference.

AI and National Security

A plenary session focused on national security challenges in the AI-driven era.

Key speakers included retired Lt. Gen. Rakesh Kapoor and retired Major General R.P.S. Bhadauria. The session was chaired by Prof. Ashok Kumar Nagawat, Vice Chancellor of Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University.
