New Delhi | February 22: Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT Jitin Prasada said that India is emerging as a global leader in Artificial Intelligence after 86 countries signed a landmark agreement supporting inclusive and human-centric AI development. Speaking at an international conference in New Delhi, the minister described the recently held global AI summit as the “mother of all AI summits.” He said the agreement confirms that Artificial Intelligence should be inclusive, value-based, and focused on human welfare. According to him, this global consensus strengthens India’s position in the AI sector and supports the country’s vision of becoming a developed nation under the Viksit Bharat mission. Conference on AI and Human Values The minister was addressing the inaugural session of the two-day international conference titled “Digital Society and Human Values: Reimagining Integral Humanism in the AI Era.” The conference was held at the Dr B. R. Ambedkar Centre and brought together academicians, policymakers, and researchers. The event was organised by Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh in collaboration with Shaikshik Foundation and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College. More than 800 educationists and scholars attended the conference, and over 150 research papers were presented on the first day. “AI is for All”: Minister Stresses Digital Inclusion Jitin Prasada emphasized that Artificial Intelligence should benefit everyone, not just students or technology professionals. He stated: “AI is for all, not just for students.” The minister highlighted the importance of digital literacy and called it a national priority. He stressed that bridging the urban-rural digital divide is essential for inclusive growth. At the same time, he warned about the risks associated with new technologies, particularly: Deepfake videos AI-generated misinformation Digital manipulation He urged the academic community to ensure that AI becomes a tool for inclusion rather than division. Experts Call for Value-Based AI Several academicians shared their views on the relationship between technology and human values. Prof. Geeta Bhatt, Director of NCWEB, said the conference aims to create a roadmap that balances technological growth with ethical principles. Dr. Narayan Lal Gupta, President of ABRSM, stressed the need for value-based Artificial Intelligence. He said technology must remain human-centric to ensure inclusive social development. Prof. Hem Chandra Jain described the seminar as an important step toward preserving human values in the age of Artificial Intelligence. Prof. Ashok Kumar Chakrawal said AI should be treated as an assisting tool rather than a replacement for human intelligence. Prof. Virendra Bhardwaj highlighted India’s growing role in using Artificial Intelligence for civilizational development and cultural preservation. Focus on Trust and National Security The first day of the conference concluded with plenary sessions featuring Prof. Anand Ranganathan and Prof. Jagadesh Kumar. The discussions focused on rebuilding social trust in the age of automation and Artificial Intelligence. The conference will continue on February 23 with sessions on national security and technology. The valedictory address will be delivered by the Union Law Minister.
