In a landmark diplomatic move, India has announced the suspension of the 65-year-old Indus Waters Treaty, stating that the “global center of terrorism” can no longer enjoy the fruits of a peace treaty while waging a proxy war.

Addressing the UN Security Council, India’s Permanent Representative, Parvathaneni Harish, delivered a blistering response to Pakistan’s latest provocations.

1. The ‘Operation Sindoor’ Reality Check

Harish exposed Pakistan’s false narrative regarding “Operation Sindoor.” He revealed a stunning military detail: while Pakistan was issuing public threats until May 9 last year, the reality on May 10 was very different.

  • The S.O.S Call: The Pakistani military reportedly made a direct phone call to the Indian Army, begging for a ceasefire.

  • The Damage: Publicly available satellite imagery shows charred hangars and destroyed runways at several Pakistani airbases following India’s tactical response.

2. Ending the “Indus Water” Goodwill

For over six decades, India upheld the Indus Waters Treaty despite three major wars. Harish made it clear that India’s patience has reached its limit.

  • The Suspension: The treaty will remain suspended until Pakistan provides a “credible and irreversible” end to cross-border terrorism.

  • The Reason: India argues that a treaty born of “goodwill and friendship” cannot survive when one side uses terrorism as a tool of state policy.

3. A Failed State: The “Constitutional Coup”

In a rare move, India commented on Pakistan’s internal instability, specifically the 27th Amendment. Harish questioned the legitimacy of a nation where:

  • The military carries out a “Constitutional Coup.”

  • The Defense Chief is granted lifelong immunity from the law.

4. Final Word on Kashmir

India reaffirmed that the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir remains an “integral and inseparable” part of the nation. Harish told the Council that the UN is a place for global peace, not a platform for Pakistan to “legitimize terrorism.”
