A two-day national seminar on women’s empowerment and constitutional values began today at University of Delhi. The event was organized by the Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB) at Shankar Lal Auditorium, North Campus.

The seminar is titled “Daughters of the Indian Constitution: 75 Years of Empowerment towards Viksit Bharat @ 2047.” It is being held in collaboration with Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh and supported by the Indian Council of Social Science Research.

Strong Message on Women’s Role in Nation Building

The inaugural session was led by Chief Guest Savitri Thakur, Minister of State in the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

Addressing the audience, she said, “Daughters of India are the foundation of a Developed India @ 2047.” She added that the progress of women directly leads to the progress of the nation.

Thakur highlighted that the Indian Constitution guarantees equal rights to women. These rights, she said, have enabled women to actively contribute to nation-building. She also spoke about the Government of India’s ongoing efforts through women-focused schemes and policies.

Focus on Constitutional Legacy and Women Leaders

In her welcome address, Geeta Bhatt, Director of NCWEB, emphasized the importance of women in the making of the Constitution. She noted that 15 women were part of the Constituent Assembly. These women were not just representatives but active contributors to India’s democratic foundation.

Narayan Lal Gupta, President of ABRSM, also spoke on the occasion. He described these 15 women as visionary leaders who helped shape modern India. He stressed the need to revisit their contributions in today’s context.

Education and Skills Key to Viksit Bharat Vision

Vikas Gupta, Registrar of Delhi University, highlighted the importance of skill-based education. He said that achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047 requires a strong focus on practical and skill-oriented learning.

He also appreciated the role of NCWEB in promoting women’s education and empowerment.

The session was chaired by Balaram Pani, Dean of Colleges and Chairperson of NCWEB. He emphasized that education alone is not enough. According to him, physical and mental well-being are equally important for building a developed nation.

Wide Participation from Academic Community

The seminar has seen strong participation from across the country. Around 600 people registered for the event, and more than 300 participants are presenting research papers.

Due to the high number of entries, an online session was conducted earlier. In this session, over 100 participants presented their research across four panels.

Several distinguished personalities attended the inaugural event. These included Shri Mahendra Kapoor, Shri Guntha Laxman, Prof. Rakesh Kumar Pandey, and IAS officer Ayushi Dabas, among others.

During the session, dignitaries also released the official seminar souvenir.
