The Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board celebrated its 81st Annual Day at University of Delhi on Monday with the theme “Great Heroines of a Glorious Past.” The event was held at Shankarlal Hall and focused on remembering historic women leaders while encouraging young women to contribute to the vision of a self-reliant India.

The programme also featured academic awards, cultural performances, and the announcement of a new scholarship for postgraduate students. More than 650 students, teachers, and staff members attended the event.

Distinguished Guests Attend the Ceremony

The programme was graced by Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar as the Chief Guest. Dr. Shobha Vijender attended as the Guest of Honour.

The event was chaired by Prof. Balram Pani, who is also Chairperson of NCWEB. Prof. Geeta Bhatt served as the Convener of the programme.

NCWEB Highlights Achievements of 2025-26

Welcoming the guests, Prof. Geeta Bhatt spoke about the rich legacy of NCWEB and presented the annual report for the academic session 2025-26. She highlighted major academic achievements of the institution and its students.

She also emphasized the growing importance of financial awareness among students and said that NCWEB remains committed to the all-round development of women learners.

During her address, she mentioned the support announced by Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, including fee assistance for 100 students of the Keshav Mahavidyalaya NCWEB Centre and financial support of ₹2 lakh for the annual celebration.

“There Is No Substitute for Hard Work”

Chief Guest Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar motivated students through his keynote speech. He said that family plays an important role in solving personal challenges, and women remain the central pillar of this support system.

He also said that India’s great women leaders created fertile ground for the progress of modern India. Addressing students, he stated that awards may reflect success, but hard work is the real ladder to achievement.

He urged students to continue working with confidence, dedication, and perseverance.

Women Education Is Key to National Growth

Guest of Honour Dr. Shobha Vijender praised NCWEB for its contribution to women’s education. She said that institutions like NCWEB are playing a leading role in creating opportunities for women through accessible higher education.

She further added that becoming a global power alone should not be the goal. According to her, true progress is rooted in national values, ethics, and responsible conduct.

Education Builds Confidence and Courage

In his presidential remarks, Prof. Balram Pani said that education helps individuals develop confidence, patience, courage, and discipline. He noted that women’s education has a direct impact on families, communities, and national development.

He encouraged students to use education as a tool for self-growth and service to society.

Ahilyabai Holkar Scholarship Announced

A major highlight of the event was the announcement of the Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar Scholarship for postgraduate students from the academic session 2025-26 onward. The scholarship will be awarded to students for academic excellence.

Along with this, meritorious undergraduate students were also honoured for outstanding academic performance.

The announcement received appreciation from students and faculty members present at the event.

Cultural Competition Showcases Talent

The Annual Day also featured a cultural presentation competition by NCWEB students based on the lives of India’s great women personalities. A total of 13 energetic and creative performances were presented.

The competition highlighted the artistic talent, confidence, and creativity of students.

  • Third Prize: Keshav Mahavidyalaya Centre

Formal Conclusion of the Event

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Surendra Kumar. He thanked the guests, faculty members, students, and organizing team for making the celebration successful.

The 81st Annual Day of NCWEB reflected the institution’s long-standing commitment to women’s education, leadership, and empowerment. With the launch of the Ahilyabai Holkar Scholarship, NCWEB has taken another step toward supporting academic excellence among women students.
