The five-day national seminar “Bharat Manthan 2026” commenced at Deshbandhu College under University of Delhi, marking the beginning of a major academic initiative focused on nation-building and human welfare.

Organized by Indraprastha Study Centre in collaboration with the Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB), Jawaharlal Nehru University, Central University of Himachal Pradesh, and Central University of Haryana, the seminar will continue until April 11 across multiple colleges of Delhi University.

Theme Focused on Panch Parivartan

The seminar is centered on the theme “Implementation of Panch Parivartan in the Context of Human Welfare: Challenges and Solutions.” It aims to address five key pillars—social harmony, family awareness, environmental protection, self-reliance, and civic responsibility.

These themes reflect a broader vision of building a value-based and harmonious society through academic dialogue and research.

Inaugural Session Highlights Family Values

The opening day of the seminar focused on “Kutumb Prabodhan” (family awareness). The session began with traditional rituals, including the Centre Song and floral tribute to Bharat Mata, reflecting India’s cultural ethos.

A major highlight of the event was the book launch based on selected research papers presented in a previous seminar on Ahilyabai Holkar, held in May 2025. The publication was released by distinguished scholars present at the event.

“Family is India’s Brand”

Delivering the keynote address, Chartered Accountant Anil Gupta emphasized the importance of family in Indian society. He stated, “Family is India’s brand,” highlighting its role in preserving culture, values, and traditions.

He further remarked that the adoption of colonial cultural practices has distanced society from its roots. According to him, Indian culture, centered on strong family systems, remains the foundation of national identity.

Academic and Institutional Perspectives

Prof. Rajendra Kumar Pandey, Principal of Deshbandhu College, described the seminar as an important step towards nation-building. He noted that the concept of Panch Parivartan can play a crucial role in shaping a progressive India and restoring its position as a global leader.

Prof. Brajesh Pandey, Rector of Jawaharlal Nehru University, highlighted the relevance of family in modern society. He emphasized that the complementary roles of men and women form the foundation of a strong family system and contribute to social stability.

Strong Participation and Research Engagement

The inaugural session witnessed participation from around 150 attendees, including academicians, researchers, and students. A total of 60 participants registered under the theme of family awareness, out of which 30 research papers were presented.

Among these, 11 papers were presented by students, while 19 were contributed by faculty members. The discussions covered various dimensions of family values, cultural identity, and social responsibility.

Multi-Day Academic Program

Bharat Manthan 2026 is structured across multiple days and venues:

  • April 7: Environmental Protection at Motilal Nehru College
  • April 8: Social Harmony at Kirori Mal College
  • April 10: Civic Duty and Self-awareness at Shaheed Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College

Each session will bring together scholars from across Delhi and the National Capital Region to present research and engage in discussions.

Focus on Nation-Building Through Academia

The seminar aims to bridge the gap between academic research and societal needs. By focusing on Panch Parivartan, it seeks to promote character-building, ethical values, and responsible citizenship.

Organizers believe that such academic platforms play a vital role in addressing contemporary challenges and shaping a more inclusive and value-driven society.
